News from the FDA About Cipro and Related Drugs

The FDA recently notified the manufacturers of fluoroquinolone antimicrobial drugs such as Cipro, Factive, Levaquin, Avelox, Noroxin and Floxin of the need to add a boxed warning to their medications advising of the increased risk of developing tendinitis and tendon rupture in patients taking these drugs.
